In rehearsal for the UK tour...

As those involved with The Sound of Music UK tour prepare for opening night, we visited the cast in rehearsal.

The UK touring production of The Sound of Music opens in Cardiff on 26th July, and rehearsals are in full swing.

Our exclusive pictures show Connie Fisher (Maria), Michael Praed (The Captain), Jacinta Mulcahy (Baroness Schraeder) and one of the company’s three groups of children rehearsing one of the show’s iconic moments, when the children perform ‘The Sound of Music,’ for the Baroness and their father. It was an incredibly emotional moment as the rest of the cast and many of the creative team watched enthralled, and, it has to be said, many of them were seen wiping away a tear!

On tour, each of the three groups of seven children will play the roles of Liesl, Friedrich, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta, Marta and Gretl on a rotation system carefully managed to ensure regular nights off.

Next week we’ll be speaking to Company Manager Neil White about how the cast and crew cope on tour – and how the children fit their schoolwork in with their singing…
